Abigail Burkett-Vetter, DNP, PNP-C


Abigail is from Florida. She moved to ND for college and worked as an environmental engineer prior to beginning her healthcare career. As a nurse she cared for hospitalized patients on the pediatrics floor as well as in the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU), pediatric cardiovascular ICU, and neonatal ICU. At Vanderbilt University she received her Master’s degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) and received her Pediatric Acute Care and Pediatric Primary Care Certificates

She has worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Paul.   She remains faculty at NDSU teaching undergraduate nursing students and nurse practitioner students. She also volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

When not in the clinic or hospital, Abigail travels around the world providing much needed medical care in remote communities and rural hospitals. She’s served children and adults in Belize, Guatemala, Brazil, Haiti, Kenya, and Malawi.
